Professional Magician, Balloon Pilot, Bingo Entrepreneur… Writer!
Here I am now, writing books, putting to paper experiences which inspire me whilst inadvertently demonstrating the reality in which we live and a very plausible insight into the future. I hope you enjoy.
Throughout my career I prioritised “quality of life” over generating income and with this philosophy, which I realise now has given me a unique slant on living.
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, moving to Glasgow and Liverpool, intermittently spending time in the Highlands of Scotland, I spent time as a child with interests other than academia, (a good way to say I was rubbish at school).
I have compiled this website with the intention of providing an insight into how my experience translates to the stories I write, the thought process involved, and perhaps inspiration. (You never know!)

Ever present, Persian Cats have occupied my house. Coming from various rescue centres I’ve homed as many as seven at a time, love em all! (So much fur)

Inspiration
I am past the middle of “middle age”. I live with my patient partner and two demanding cats. I’m a fortunate man as all ducks are in a row to generate the opportunity to enjoy writing.
I work part time, (yes being a full-time author is a dream, not fact). With a connected laptop I work from anywhere (a perfect lifestyle choice).
I work independently with flexible hours and no boss to speak of. When I have inspiration or just feel like writing, I can drop the main job and concentrate on creativity.
Professional Magician
Age seventeen I became a professional Magician, this paid toward further education in Leisure Management in Torquay. At the age of 25 I became general manager (GM) of Mecca’s snooker clubs (their youngest GM) and latterly within the Bingo establishment.
Balloon Pilot
A Hot Air Balloon Pilot at age of 29 I gained experience and subsequently opened my first businesses in 1998. These were balloons with a difference located in Bristol (England) and Dubai as well as consulting in the US. This afforded the opportunity to travel.
Closing the balloon businesses after ten years I concentrated on family and welfare of. It’s here I experienced first hand the trials, tribulations and challenges of mental illness in a society which lacked empathy or understanding.
The Nine to Five
After general employment as a business manager at an independent school in which I resented working ‘nine to five’ and having a boss, I brought to online gaming a new concept in delivering bingo. With many blue-chip companies as clients, I lasted a few years until I became disillusioned with those involved and the ineloquence which occupies the online space.
A Writer
I took a “hobby job”, learnt to ski, lost my mother, and fell in love!

A Conducive Environment to write
During the day - A good coffee shop (when it’s warm inside and raining outside, perfect!)
In the evening – At home, in front of the log burner, gentle jazz in the background.
When away – watching the snow gives the best inspiration for me.
